Guest Reader/Week of Oct. 21st

Thank you to Mrs. Adamic for being our guest reader!!

What We’re Learning This Week:

Reading:  “Places Plants and Animals Live” (Non-Fiction Text)
We will focus on the main idea and key details.  Students will be working on asking and answering questions to help figure out the meaning of the words in a non-fiction text. We’ll be continuing guided reading and daily five center activities. As always, we’ll be reading poetry weekly for fluency and expression practice.  Please continue to read and monitor the book-in-a bag coming home nightly.

Writing: We are beginning a new writing unit on opinion writing. Students will learn how to write an opinion piece in which they introduce the topic or name of a book, state an opinion, supply detailed reasons for the opinion and provide a sense of closure. This week we will focus on learning fact vs. opinion.  We will also learn how to write good detailed reasons to defend our opinions. I will also continue to conference with students and reinforce the application of what we are learning.

Read and Write Words: got  has  first
